Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) by Matthew S — 04 Jun 2015
Although I enjoyed the film, there were a few niggles - the plot has been padded out almost beyond recognition, the 'comedy' parts were mostly embarrassing - the cockney trolls for instance, while Barry Humphries and Sylvester McCoy seemed to think they were in a panto - and why was it necessary to shoehorn in characters like Saruman and Frodo? Still, the film looks fantastic and has it's exciting and spectacular moments, but why it's been strung out into a trilogy (apart from greed) is beyond me.
