Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) by Mallory A — 16 Feb 2017
I saw the theatrical version and it was wonderful. What gets me ear clogging about Lord of the Rings and now The Hobbit trilogy are the extended editions being released later. You would think that you learned what happened to the Lord of the Rings trilogy extended releases but for me, it's actually the first time experiencing the releases.
The only better way to experience Peter Jackson's epic fantasy adventure films of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is watching the extended editions. An Unexpected Journey's extended edition proves yet again that the story flourishes more and the scenes taking place in Rivendell takes a more liking and it was more thorough.
It didn't make sense for the travelers to just stay there and not have fun. They're dwarves and one half-ling. The Hobbit trilogy is another adventure that happens before Frodo's own epic journey and watching these films currently on the process of releasing, takes us there to the Shire and back again.
