After The Lord of the Rings became a license for Warner Brothers to print money, there really wasn't anything unexpected about this journey at all. Martin Freeman's choice to play Bilbo as a middle earth version of Ricky Ricardo? Always annoyed at the high jinks of his dwarf friends? A complete surprise.
