Review of The Hoax (2006) by Ryan H — 22 Nov 2007
Powerful performance by Richard Gere. "The Hoax" tells the story of Clifford Irving, who pulled off one of the biggest hoaxes in U.S. history. He fakes an autobiography of Howard Hughes and the direction and storytelling of this real event is brilliantly done.
Alfred Molina is great here as well (same goes for the rest of the ensemble). This is an edge of your seat thriller that keeps you completely engaged from start to finish. I highly recommend it and I hope that Richard Gere at least gets nominated for an Academy Award for his performance because it is honestly long overdue.
