Review of The Hoax (2006) by Brandon S — 06 Jan 2008
Absolutely fascinating, from beginning to end. Director Lasse Hallstrom weaves an ingeniously elaborate story that piles on the unbelivabilities one after the other, and it's made all the more interesting because it's based on a true story.
Richard Gere as Clifford Irving spins a web of intricate lies with effortless ease. Sometimes the unbelievabilities hurt the script, but I guess that's part of the point - questioning lies and truth and showing how both can hurt and help.
