Review of The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) by Nick P — 17 Aug 2017
Just saw the movie and have to say it was a fairly entertaining movie despite the relatively weak plot. Ryan Reynolds has to safely transport Samuel L. Jackson to an international court to testify against a brutal dictator for war crimes by some arbitrary deadline that isn't really explained why the deadline exists.
Also includes plenty of other cliches you would see in this type of movie. However that still doesn't stop it from being an entertaining movie with the comedy being very Deadpool-esque. Of course Jackson isn't afraid to drop "motherf*****" every other line and is filled with enough shootouts to satisfy those wanting an action movie.
Despite the dysfunctional relationship between Reynolds' and Jackson's characters, the overall chemistry was good. Overall, if you are looking for an intellectually stimulating movie worthy of best picture, go with something else; but if you want to just escape for a couple of hours and be entertained, this movie accomplishes the job.
If you enjoyed the comedy in Deadpool, you will enjoy this movie.
