This receives such a rating partly for the poor adaptation of the ideas in the first two books in the series, but also partly due to the fact that narration-based comedy translates poorly to physical or dialogue-driven gags.
The saving grace was an excellent cast, particularly Martin Freeman as Arthur and Zooey Deschanel as Tricia, which gave the film a different feel from the book. All in all, good - could have been better.
