The movie, like the book, is built from a series sniglets that tie together to tell a story. The common theme of the stories is that if you take the time to escape the claustrophobic view of the perils of your day to day existence the world is a marvelous place.

To try to describe the Book or the movie cohesively and convince you to watch this is a fool?s errand, but to say that the move catches a fraction of the points of the book to an excellent degree in 109 minutes is my highest compliment.

I do not know of an actress who could more effectively carry of the scene where Zaphod shoot her with the empathy gun than Zooey Deeschanel. The empathy can does not affect me I?m already a woman. Personally loved the choice of Tilda Swenton as deep thought the computer that solves the answer as to what is the meaning of life.

Then I read the credits after 20+ viewings and it was Helen Mirren still a great choice. Other stand-outs are Billy Nighy as Slartibartfast. When Arthur dent says Yes I always thought some one was watching me.

And Nighy responds that is perfectly normal Parnoia every our in the universe has that. My favorite character reading the book was Marvin the constantly depressed robot whose brain is as big as a planet and they have him do menial tasks.

When I read the book I never took the words so literal as the BBC series and this movie that hi head was exceedingly large. I started my 4 year old in soccer and each time we went he became more shy of joining in with the other children.

I asked him what he was afraid of and he told me that he was afraid that they were not going to like him. I told him that all they other children here were feeling the same thing and I?m sure they would like to have a friend come up to him and ply with them.

He smiled at me and has never been scared at joining in at soccer again. So long Douglas and thanks for all the fish.
