Thumbs up for the added romantic interest. I don't mind they had changed some of the book material for it because the story could have used a bit of romance to be honest. This also gives the main character, Arthur, a less pointless role in the story like he was in the book (being over-shadowed by the other added characters when they were in a group setting).

Also liked some of the movie-only plot things, inclusion of some of the more entertaining lines of the book, actor/acting for Arthur, and cuteness of the female lead. However, the CGI was mediocre even for nine years ago and, other than Arthur and maybe Zephod, the acting for Ford, Trillion, and others were pretty terrible or at least felt over-dramatic and cheesy.

Overall, the quirkiness and enough-to-make-you-grin-but-not-enough-to-make-you-LOL sense of humor makes me wish that this book was never make into a movie. It just doesn't seem like something that translates well to a silver-screen incarnation.

Though similar in its humor, at least it's attempt at it wasn't as bad as that crappy movie Spaceballs.
