Review of The Hitcher (2007) by Crystal H — 18 Sep 2010
I liked the original Hitcher (1985) with C. Thomas Howell and my fav B-movie actor Rutger Hauer. It was an original premise that was properly executed, I mean, it wasnt the greatest scary movie ever, but it was good. So naturally, I had my reservations about watching this remake. I mean, I always figured, if you're gonna make a remake, then remake a really bad movie, right?
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. Sophia Bush is a hottie, and Sean Bean does an excellent job of conveying that psychopathic aura that makes you scared and yet interested at the same time. The remake pretty much follows the original scene by scene, with some interesting exceptions. Im not gonna reveal any spoilers, but some of the modified action scenes were phenomenal, particularly the police car chase. There are some gratuitous scenes (scare tactics to make you jump off your seats) but they help to keep the movie's pace along.
So my judgement, if you want to watch a very forgettable movie with some great entertainment value for a relatively short time (the movie is only 1.5hrs long), then by all means, go see the Hitcher.
