Other than Rutger Hauer seemingly being able to teleport to wherever C. Thomas Howell's character happens to be, and a few other inconsistencies, 'The Hitcher' is an effective suspense-thriller.
The aforementioned Hauer brings a memorable degree of menace to his role here.
