Review of The History Boys (2006) by Ben F — 01 Mar 2010

"The History Boys" was really a film unlike anything I've ever seen before. It was funny and fun, but at the same time, so brilliantly written, and so witty and intelligent. Truly a good movie.

So basically to sum it up, some boys are staying at school for a third term, because they are the best of the best, and they all want to get into Oxford. At the same time, the boys deal with issues of happiness, and confusion of what they want to do with their lives. The way the film is executed really keeps the movie running, with it's wonderful script, and fantastic direction.

The acting from all ends is good. The cast is the same as the play, so we really get a treat here. It's truly remarkable. The way that all of the characters interact with each other, is also entertaining to say the least. They are funny and clever, and that's what makes you like all of the people in the movie. This movie just makes you want to do a lot of things, primarily studying...because the movie is so academic in sense.

You have to have a fast brain to keep up with the British comedy, but if you understand it, it truly is hilarious. Some of the jokes that are stating in this film are hilarious on end, and some other lines, are just smart, but still entertaining, as well as intriguing. It's really great to see this happen in a movie, and "The History Boys" truly delivers in that department.

In fact, "The History Boys" delivers in all departments. It had great acting, a wonderful script, a creative and intriguing premise, and an execution that fans of the genre, as well as fans of films in general would die for. Definitely worth the view.
