Review of The History Boys (2006) by Neil C — 17 Jul 2010
Quite an enjoyable, and at times dark, look at education in a British school. The themes of teacher/student relationships, failures that lead to teaching, the danger of "teaching to the test" are all touched upon and the roles are wonderfully acted by a good ensemble cast.
Especially enjoyable is Richard Griffiths portrayal of an eccentric and conflicted teacher. I actually enjoyed this far more than Dead Poets Society which I found to be over the top and overly simplistic in some of its conclusions.
