Review of The Hills Run Red (2009) by Phil F — 25 Sep 2009
The Hills Run Red is a film about a group of horror fans in search of an 80s horror movie supposedly so horrifying that it was pulled from the theaters after only a few views. The director also went missing along with the only copy of the film.
Their search leads them to find the daughter of the director and she, in turn, leads them to the area in which the horror movie was filmed.
Soon they discover the killer from the movie (Babyface) is still roaming the area looking for more victims.
The Hills Run Red is actually a good slasher horror movie, at least in parts that is. Better than expected gore effects and a not so unbelievable killer make this movie better than most low budget horror films. Still, it isn't without problems. A bit too much time was spent setting up the road trip that leads the characters to the area where the movie was filmed. Also, it seemed the director wanted to throw in as much nudity and sex as possible.
The Hills Run Red is worth watching. It isn't perfect but it isn't bad.
