Review of The Hills Run Red (2009) by Al M — 31 Oct 2009
The Hills Run Read is a fun little blend of Scream self-conscious slasher film and Saw torture porn. Funny, brutal (at times), and generally entertainging, the film is a somewhat smart little horro film that will probably thrill most horror fans.
Its plot is not entirely original. In the film, a group of kids are trying to find an almost unseen horror film that drove audiences insane and subsequently disappeared. For a better (and smarter) take on this story, see John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns from the Showtime Masters of Horror series, one of the best films in that series.
Still, The Hills Run Red features some genuinely twisted moments and a plot that offers a few surprises even if they are ultimately somewhat unbelievable.
