Review of The Hills Have Eyes (2006) by Kari K — 25 May 2011
When I first seen this movie in theaters. I wasn't too impressed by Aja's remake of the classic Craven shocker. I had then watched the unrated dvd version. I'm not sure if it just took me the second viewing to see what Alexandre Aja was trying to achieve but you can see that he has a genuine love for the original.
Which is more than I can say about the flood of sub-par horror remakes that pour out of hollywood every year. Directed by people who probably havent even seen the remake much less even like them. In this revamped remake pushes the envelope by todays standards to equal the shock value of the original 1977 film.
Which upon initial release was branded with an X rating. Full of vicious brutality, gore, and ugly mutants. I think this film will soon see the love it so much deserves by fans of the original.
