This is one of the best remakes I've ever seen. It's a lot scarier than the original, but not quite as good. Half of this film is extremely scary and very well shot and acted, but the second half of this movie isn't as scary.
It's almost like in the middle of this film Aja decided to kind of give up. In the second half, the only thing he used to scare you was large amounts of gore. The acting fell apart and I don't think it was as exciting as the part where the mutants invade the RV.
Another problem this film had was character development. One of the things that made the original unique was that the mutants had a little bit of character. This film also doesn't express the whole point of the original that well.
But all around this is a decent remake with lots of good scares.
