Review of The Hills Have Eyes (1977) by Matt D — 25 Jan 2009
Made during a time when Wes Craven had some HUGE balls and was tripping on acid, the original Hills Have Eyes was a dark and bleak son of a bitch about a middle-class family breaking down in the desert where cannibalistic mountain men pick them off one by one in some pretty gruesome ways, forcing the survivors to become even crazier than the hill people and fight back.
This film is terrific. Michael Berryman and his Pluto character will always be one of my favorites of all time!! I was shocked as hell to see the original outdo this masterpiece. Good film though.
