Review of The Hills Have Eyes (1977) by Bill B — 02 Nov 2010
Hillbilly horror set in a desert, we find the city folk driven to bloody revenge against their attackers, a theme which seems to mean a lot to Craven but seems like a normal progression to me when one is attacked by vicious outside forces.
Has some cruel and unsettling bits, as well as some clever use of their environment. My only issue might be with the uber-smart German Shepard, who seeks revenge when his mate is killed; it borders on a violent Benji movie at this point, but it's still amusing, so I try to go with it.
Give it a rental.
