Review of The Hiding Place (1975) by Aliya D — 11 Jun 2008
This is the true story of the heroic Ten Boom family who, during the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands asked themselves the question, "If not us...who; if not now...when?" They answered it, and ultimately their response cost most of them their lives in various concentration camps.
This is their story, as told from the perspective of the sole survivor, Corrie Ten Boom. She told their story in a book upon which the movie is based. She is a stark reminder of the innate goodness to be found in humanity and is a strong counterpoint to the cruelty of the Nazi regime.
The themes are timeless and universal and give us all hope...
