Review of The Hero (2017) by Tanner F — 24 Sep 2017
Sam Elliot plays a sad, old, washed-up actor, who discovers he has terminal pancreatic cancer. He suddenly decides to try and patch things up with his estranged daughter, tries to find more work, to make something of himself, to undo the mistakes of the past decades in a few weeks.
If this was some typical Hollywood movie, there would be some real redemption here. But The Hero sticks to a far more realistic narrative, and the end of the movie brings us right back to where the film started off.
