Review of The Help (2011) by Paul B — 24 Nov 2012
The film adaptation of The Help carries with it the same strength and weakness of the book. This does not make it any less of a good movie, which is still inspiring and moving. The film does better compared to the book by making Aibileen the central and leading character of the story, whose restrained conflict and quiet strength is brought to life by Viola Davis' excellent performance.
Parts from the book have been trimmed (the usual case with any adaptation) but important scenes were kept, and the same impact it had in the book translated equally well unto the movie.
