Review of The Help (2011) by Arianna B — 01 Jun 2014
After reading the book, I was not totally disappointed by the movie. However, I found some differences that I would have liked to see depicted differently. It is sad, for example, that the relationship between Minny and Celia is not deepened, as well as the one between Stuart and Skeeter.
Also the story about Constanting and Skeeter's mother and her diseases are faced in a too quick manner, respect to the importance given to them in the book. Somewhat, although probably for not making the plot too complicated, they appear a bit too simplicist.
The movie though gives the right colors to the book: the setting is beautiful and the actors (or better, the actresses) are capable to transmit the same passion as their characters in paper format. A beautiful story, beautifuly told!
