Review of The Help (2011) by Tania M — 30 Jan 2013
It is certainly full of stereo types typical of the 60's, but beyond that I can find very little to fault.
Stone, Davis and the refreshingly funny Spencer make a great team. Davis' delivery was both authentic and heartfelt and Spencer gives just enough comedic relief to keep the film from becomming to dreary and depressing, while still succeeding to paint the dramatic picture of the unjust treatment that is the theme of this tale. Stone might have seemed a little uncomfortable, but certainly not enough to spoil the film at all. But it is refreshing to see her in something more serious, it suits her.
Very stong cast, beloved heroines, vilains that are so easy to hate and a tale worthy to be told. Just lovely!
