Review of The Hebrew Hammer (2003) by Cable _ — 05 Jul 2008
The endless torrent of ethnic jokes and stereotypes that constitutes The Hebrew Hammer cannot be fought. The viewer has only to decide to swim with the current, get out of the water, or drown. Choosing the former option, I enjoyed the Jewsploitation ride immensely.
Sure, many of the jokes and accents are atrocious, but enough are genuinely funny that somehow, the misfires are tolerable. And I find Andy Dick hilarious, though that probably doesn't speak well of my taste.
This is the perfect film to see among Jews on Christmas Eve, but I wouldn't want non-Jews laughing too much. It's like one big Jewish "n-word". We can laugh; you can't.
