Review of The Heat (2013) by Matthew C — 24 Aug 2015
Chock full of 'buddy cop' and R-rated comedy tropes, and featuring the standard Melissa McCarthy character (foul-mouthed, uncouth, tough chick), The Heat doesn't get many points for originality.
What it does get major props for, however, is the pairing of McCarthy and Bullock. The two have amazing chemistry and comic timing. They manage to elevate this by-the-numbers comedy with their presence and the many laughs that they inspire.
Genius casting goes a long, long way to be sure.
