Review of The Heat (2013) by Barney O — 02 Dec 2016
WHAT I LIKED: This is one of those movies where you sit there super-engaged and on the edge of your seat, then you take a moment out and look at yourself. What the heck am I watching? Well, you're actually watching a really great movie unfold, where the action and character-dynamics dwarf many true spy-action thrillers, whilst the sheer hilarity of every situation seems to mock those competitors all at the same time. It's hilarious, but much like Feig's Bridesmaids, it's also a really great story, and that's what engages you in the fist place.
WHAT I DIDNT LIKE: 'Spy' may have just done all that great stuff a teeny bit better...
VERDICT: This movie is hilarious, but like all of Feig and McCarthy's great work, it's got real story too.
