Review of The Heartbreak Kid (2007) by David J — 14 Sep 2009
I wasnt expecting much from this especially after read some of the (harsh)reviews, but was pleasantly suprised. Its a role Stiller has nailed now, see also Theres something about mary, meet the parents etc.
His character isnt as likeable as Ted and Gregg and at times comes across as a bit of a dick but this makes him all the more interesting. After a whirlwhind romance with Lila (played by the gorgeous akerman) he weds her and all seems standard rom-com until the honeymoon when she reveals her true colours.
Stepforward Miranda (the equally gorgeous monaghan) who strikes up an unlikely friendship with Eddie, although he declines to mention he is on his honeymoon. Great supporting cast, Stillers real life dad Jerry plays his pop in this and quite frankly steals the show.
Running time makes things drag slightly but the final scene is a cracker.
