Review of The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004) by Tom M — 08 Sep 2007
This just didn't work for me. It felt too self-indulgent, too much like a bad Film Studies project by an overly-gothic teenager. It kept throwing hideous scenes of abuse and torment at me, but I never felt like it was actually trying to make a point of any kind; more that it was just enamoured with its own perceived sense of daring.
