Review of The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004) by Annie C — 25 Sep 2009
I liked this movie. as someone with a not so great childhood this touches a lot of sensitive topics, but who said that we have to hide from them or shy away from them becuase they hit the wrong chords in our hearts?
The story overall is great, every character was different but uniquely alike in their addiction, Sarah's parents with their addiction to religion, Sarah with her addiction to drugs, Jeramiah with his addiction to his mother, and of course Sarah's countless boyfriends and each of their own addictions.
I think the topics that were touched here are not topics you could see yourself bringing up in general conversation, or casual meetings, but they needed to be touched. People need to be reminded that some kids, or even some people aren't so lucky to have escaped the whirl wind of life and some people don't get a choice, or even a chance, to change or to releave themselves of a certian life. Addiction to anything is dangerous and we can all get caught up.
