Review of The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1968) by Kris W — 12 Oct 2009
I read the novel in freshman year of high school and was deeply moved by it. (Don't you wish you could go back and your former teachers that they made a difference, that something they introduced to you resonated?). Alan Arkin's performance was 'silent (well, it would be...), finely honed...deeply moving.
The film adaptation of McCuller's other novel 'Sister of the Bride' with Julie (?) was also stunning....tight...
