Review of The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) by M H — 22 Feb 2010
Better than I expected. But I wasn't that thrilled or scared by it. Maybe a little creepy, but not scary. I'm still not sure why they were carving words into dead people, or cutting of their eyelids, or why they weren't properly buried. And if Jonah was burned alive and reduced to ash, why did his spirit look like he was oozing creepy brown stuff? Or look like he was rotten to hell, because seriously I thought it was stupid. I'm sorry, but why does it seem like every spirit in a horror look like that?
But it wasn't totally bad. It did have its moments that made you jump. The acting was pretty good, not spectacular but good. I don't know if this is really a true story like they say, but it sure adds that element of making it scary. So overall, give it try, but don't expect to be blown away by it. It's a good movie to watch late at night with some friends, but nothing more.
