Review of The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) by Kim A — 28 Mar 2010
The haunted house subgenre has become so convoluted that any new film attempting to enter it must have something noticeably original and different about it to make it worth your while, a la Paranormal Activity.
The Haunting in Connecticut, unfortunately, doesn't. You will suffer major deja-vu while watching this movie; everything about it feels like you've seen it all before in a million other films.
There are elements of Poltergeist, The Amityville Horror, The Exorcist and many other superior films, and you end up just wishing you were watching those instead. The cast feel like there phoning it in, the scares are predictable and tired and the plot just gets sillier and sillier by the minute.
The odd jumpy moment aside, The Haunting in Connecticut is a film that will be exorcised from your memory ten minutes after the credits roll.
