Review of The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) by Tom C — 27 Apr 2010
For a film of this kind, it was better than I thought it would be. This meaning that it was barely watchable. A decent performance by Virginia Madsen and half the scares were decent. However, the script is so bogged down with unnecessity.
You knew that from her first shot that the sole purpose of having a hot teenage girl would either be an underwear or shower scene. And the entire alcoholic father theme had absolutely no bearing on the story whatsoever.
She might as well been a single mother. In fact, you take everyone but the son, the mother and the priest out and you'd still have the same plot, and probably a more concise and claustrophobic one.
