Review of The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) by Kay P — 04 Jun 2013
This is based on a true story. however the writer let it get so far away from him that he tried to get the based on a true story title removed, and was rejected. Take that as you will, the movie is scarier than the true story.
If one doesn't much care for the new version of horror (Sex and gore) or flash bang horror movies, this is for you. A solid plot with tension and intellectual scares, credible acting and location make this a rather good movie.
Rather than explosions and blood painting the walls, new age horror fans would be forced to endure a distinct lack of sadistic torture and actual scares. Rather than shock value such as with SAW 1-...
100? in which there are intellectual scares, but mainly shock, this movie delivers an excellent spooky paranormal setting. I think it only suffers from the ability to see the specter, really. Fans of good old fashioned behind the closed door horror, will like this one.
