Review of The Haunting (1963) by Michael T — 31 Oct 2008
Robert Wise's superior adaptation of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting Of Hill House; this film relies on atmosphere and suggestion to create a truly creepy and unsettling haunted house film. The remake was not subtle and was only half as enjoyable.
Julie Harris is superb as the haunted spinster whom the spirits of Hill House claim as one of their own.
