Review of The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009) by Michael T — 03 Jan 2010
Well I read about Rob Zombie's comic book turned adult animated series in Rue Morgue and kept seeing copies of the DVD. Eventually, I picked up a copy in a Boxine Week" sale. I wanted to like it more.
Zombie seems to have been inspired by El Santo and other Mexican wrestlers who fought monsters in their spare time. He throws in Nazi zombies, intelligent apes, sexy ladies, and references to dozens of genre movies.
The problem is, he also throws in infantile sexist jokes and bathroom humour. If you are in the mood for an R-rated episode of Scooby Doo, this is the film you have always wanted to see.
