Review of The Hateful Eight (2015) by Phillip V — 01 Apr 2016
When I finished watching this, I immediately said this was amongst Tarantino's worst films. It was slow paced, and felt like a simpler Django. After sleeping on it and digesting it a bit, I'm pleased to say that when all is said and done, this may well be the Tarantino film I revisit to study more than any other.
So many have said this is a western. I say this is an homage to Hitchcock. The score sets this tone early and the audience is left wondering who is up to what? I loved the way it played out and the last line will stick with me for some time.
Although I don't think it's a Tarantino film I'll revisit often, I will look forward to trying to catch the little details that each frame contains. Not his masterpiece, but certainly a worthy entry to his impressive list of films.
