Review of The Hateful Eight (2015) by Jack L — 05 Apr 2016
Man oh man, I don't even know what to do with this one. It's an unruly and ugly (thematically speaking, the cinematography production design is masterful). The back half is one of the most brutal and relentlessly nihilistic pieces of cinema I've ever seen AND YET, there's something grimly potent at work that keeps it from being pure exploitation.
I can't put my finger on exactly what that is, but I don't feel like my brain is done processing.
