Review of The Hateful Eight (2015) by Devo-Nc — 07 Jan 2016
Similar to Django, it's a slow starter that takes time to set the stage for what is an entrancing, unpredictable and enthrallingly vile climax. The film gets better as it goes along, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
But it hits a high stride when it gets mysterious and takes twists and turns. The only downside I had was I found it a little too long. I feel the same way with a lot of Tarantino's work. I enjoy his fearless vulgar sense of storytelling weaving through violence and language like it's his cinematic wet dream come to life.
He's a terrific screen writer, but Hateful Eight would work better as a playwright. Be it as it may, it's a good time at the movies and a joy-house of cinematic splendour. I'd recommend this to anyone who is willing to know what they're in for.
