Review of The Hateful Eight (2015) by Ryan L — 08 Apr 2016
Quentin Tarantino has done it again with The Hateful Eight, his eighth film, about Eight truly horrific characters stuck in a small location called Minnie's Habadashery while waiting for a blizzard to pass. Kurt Russell, at his absolute best, play John Ruth "The Hangman", a bounty hunter who is transferring a prisoner named Daisy Domergue played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, with the smell of an Academy Award under her nose. when the blizzard hits he is stuck in a house with Major Marques Warren, another bounty hunter played by Samuel L. Jackson, in his most evil and great, The new Sheriff of Red Rock played to absolute perfection by Walter Goggins, the Hangman, a refreshing Tim Roth, Joe Gauge, a familiar face with Michael Madsen, a Confederate General, Bruce Dern giving a suprisingly emotional performance, and a Mexican named Bob, who was by far the weakest link of the story but still good. All of the performances are great but that's cliche to say about a Tarantino film. another cliche is to talk about the perfect, witty, sharp, profane and hysterical dialogue. Seriously, best original Screenplay oscar right here Acadamy, give it up. This is Tarantino's most talky film he has made in a long time, and I'm glad he is kind of going back to his roots, while still maintaining a great blockbuster movie filled to the brim with unexpected absolutely disgusting violence. seriously this might be Tarantino's most violent film (I don't count Kill Bill because of how unrealistic it is. still a great movie though). one of Tarantino's best no doubt and maybe is most well directed movie. definitely one of them. great film.
10/10.
