Review of The Hateful Eight (2015) by Stuart F — 15 Dec 2016
The Hateful Eight. I love Tarantino movies because they are such a massive, jolting departure from standard Hollywood films. While a normal action blockbuster opens with a bang, spends 5 minutes introducing characters and then flits from exciting location to exciting location with a thousand visual effects, Tarantino movies like the Hateful Eight start quietly, spend an hour introducing characters and sit in one location while incredible dialogue and tension is built towards a bloody ending.
The Hateful Eight doesn't disappoint. I loved it. Samuel L Jackson was especially good. It felt like a gruesome western version of when I performed in The Mousetrap. If you don't know who Quentin Tarantino is as a film maker then I can't recommend his films.
You could love them like I do, but they really might not be for you. If you loved Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Reservoir Dogs and everything else Tarantino then you will love The Hateful Eight.
