Review of The Harder They Come (1972) by Noah R — 03 Aug 2009
The first half hour bored me to tears. There comes a certain point when simply depicting life in Jamaican slums isn't enough to carry a feature film. But once he cuts that great eponymous record, the film takes off.
Not quite as good as I was expecting but has some fantastic musical interludes and puts an interesting spin on the rise-and-fall gangster formula.
