Review of The Hard Way (1991) by Pete 1 — 24 May 2008

I watched this last night (24th May) on BBC1, the late night movie as it were, and I really enjoyed it. It is another one of those films where I am surprised I have never seen it before. I am a big fan of Michael J.

Fox and this is just another great movie of his. Him and James Woods have great chemistry and make the movie incredible entertaining. They're both very talented and witty actors and you can always rely on them to give any film they are in at least something special, even if the film is bad.

The action scenes can switch from just pure entertainment to tense nail-biting scenes. The bad guy is wickedly creepy, the girl offers the strong supporting role. But the slight thing that ruined this for me was that I felt that the ending was quite rushed and there was some dodgy edits, but the whole film in total makes up for it.

The plot is very inventive, having an actor ging undercover for research for a role as a cop is a great idea and it is good that it is played out like a comedy. But it does also show some insight into the dark world of policing and how it is very hard to put trust in any one.

But the film never dwells hard on this, it likes to keep the buddy movie witty feeling flowing through. The Hard Way is top-notch entertainment, that I highly recommend.
