Review of The Hard Way (1991) by Matthew M — 13 Sep 2009
A cop comedy starring James Woods and Michael J. Fox. I had never heard anything about the film and had no idea what to expect when going in. It was not boring at all and had a lot of story to cover. I really liked the James Woods character and he was covered in a lot of depth.
I felt the film was good in its attempt to show both characters with their flaws and it kept the action going. There was never really any down time and all the plots were covered. It felt that they let little out which made the film be more whole.
Honestly it was a good movie and I liked how they parodied Michael J. Fox's character. The main flaw I felt that kept the comedy elements from being more funny was that James Woods' character had such a dark life and when combined with Michael J.
Fox it was at sometimes not taking how serious of a situation it was serious enough. That was the biggest problem but it still is a fun movie. I love how many times the bad guy escapes and all the scenes they fight in.
Like I said before they left everything in and it was different from what you would expect from a cop comedy.
