Review of The Happytime Murders (2018) by Ray H — 23 Aug 2018
Could The Happytime Murders be the worst movie I've ever seen? If it isn't then it's pretty close. For what it's worth the story follows a former puppet cop who is forced to team up with his old partner (Melissa McCarthy) to solve a series of murders of the cast of the beloved TV show the Happytime Gang.
It starts off okay and there's a couple of early laughs but it degenerates into an unfunny and awkward abomination of the Jim Henson legacy, directed by his son. You can just see Kermit shaking his head in embarrassment.
It's one thing to make the muppets crude, and the effect wears off quickly, but there's no wit at all. Plus, McCarthy is just not funny. 2/10.
