Review of The Hangover Part III (2013) by Nicholas F — 01 Nov 2013
I was a little hesitant for this movie following the somewhat disappointing Hangover Part II, but after seeing it, I was amazed at well done it was. When making a movie franchise, each installment must bring something new and unique to set it apart from the others.
Part II was basically an exact copy of the first movie. Hangover Part III does have certain qualities that enables it to stand out on its own as well as wrapping up a storyline. Many people have complained about the lack of R rated humor, but I personally liked the more serious turn this movie makes.
I was glad they brought back Mike Epps and Heather Graham and especially the baby Carlos from the first film. What I liked most about this movie was how the character of Alan has matured from a man-child to a man.
Zach Galifianakis and Melissa McCarthy have an amazing on screen chemistry and I wish that they would work together all the time. Todd Phillips does deliver a movie that is equal parts funny and serious with some surprisingly tender moments that beautifully wraps up the Hangover trilogy.
A great ending to a memorable series.
