Not as fast-paced or in your face like Oldboy was but neither was it trying to be. It's more costume drama with a story that's definitely more developed. Very mature for a Park film. Still has elements of violence, sex and revenge but it lets it unravel more naturally and at it's own pace.
Lovely yet brutal (which is Park's trademark) work.
