The Handmaiden is a feast for the eyes, the costumes, the backgrounds and the two female protagonists are all sumptuously beautiful. As an erotic drama it's a dark but liberating look at female sexuality and the male gaze.
The drama is intriguing but a little unimaginative and the love scenes go on a little too long but overall it feels like a piece of art brought to life by Chan-wook Park.
