Review of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992) by Ken T — 16 Jun 2009
The only problem I have with this is that there's no mystery. Obviously, we all know what's going on, but it would've been nice if there could've been some kind of reveal at the end. Essentially, we're just waiting for the family to figure out what we already know.
That aside, Rebecca De Mornay is exactly what she needs to be. She's quiet, cold and calculating. She side-stepped the all too obvious camp tendencies that a role like this inherently has and made Peyton into a reasonably menacing character.
I adored this movie as a child, and though it doesn't hold up terribly well, it's still a lot better than most movies of its kind.
